We used to specialise in eCommerce websites. Our former business name reflected this perfectly. But, in a new era for us where we spend far more time building bespoke websites for our customers, a new name was required.
Our business name used to be Sell Your Products Online, because that was, more than anything, what we wanted to help our customers do. We also ran our own eCommerce website, SockSock, through which we sold walking socks and other outdoor essentials. We prided ourselves on understanding all the headaches that came with running an online store: from ordering stock to distribution and managing various sales channels. We lived them on a daily basis.
In recent years, though, as our focus has moved more towards custom built websites, often working very much behind the scenes with a variety of creative agencies, our former moniker didn’t quite fit. It was time for a change.
Informally, we’ve been known as much by our acronym, SYPO, as our full name for years. We wanted a new name that still said what we do, but kept the same acronym. Struggling to come up with our perfect fit ourselves, we turned to Creative Lakes for help. Among their various suggestions was System Potential. This was fantastic. We work in a variety of systems and love helping our customers reach their full potential. Creative Lakes also designed our new logo: an, ‘S,’ formed from the less-than and greater-than symbols that are an essential part of any code that we write.
If it feels like you’ve seen this logo and the new name before, it’s because you have: we’ve used it as the avatar in most of our social media channels for nearly two years. In fact, Creative Lakes devised our new name and logo at the beginning of the decade. It was part of a campaign to help us explore, “a number of channels,” for new business and present ourselves, “in an engaging and exciting way,” to potential new customers. So pleased with their efforts, our CEO, Alan Jewitt left Creative Lakes a glowing testimony.
And it’s largely thanks to this push to expand our horizons that we have taken more than two years to make use of our new name and branding on our own website. Our focus has always been on our customers’ needs, so finding the time to devote to our own website has been something of a challenge. But, we think it has been worth the wait, and hope you do too.
