Lakeland Cottage Company

One of Cumbria’s leading holiday accommodation providers owed much of its success to a backroom team which helps the booking process run smoothly.

The Lakeland Cottage Company has run a portfolio of up to 100 top of the range holiday homes, most of them rated four or five star.

But behind the scenes is the Kendal company, SYPO which maintained their website and an integrated booking software system. They managed the site for almost ten years, applying their expertise in web development and online sales, which has meant peace of mind for the company’s owners John and Clare Serginson, who are now moving on.

They were able to concentrate on their core business which developed and grew into a highly successful operation, thanks to SYPO.

One of the advantages of the system is a bookings calendar which gives availability for part weeks as well as whole weeks.

They offered a bespoke, more managed service than many holiday cottage firms, mostly in the South Lakes area,

said SYPO managing director Alan Jewitt.

The system we operated for them was tried and tested, and can be adapted for other businesses. It’s feasible to have a one-stop-shop package which includes everything from accounting to booking. As well as developing the website and looking after their back-end system for the last few years, we also helped them through the process of selling the business, providing information to the buyers, for instance, the licences and intellectual property owned by the business and information extracted from their systems and website. All of which helped achieve a smooth, successful handover.

SYPO has more than ten years’ experience supporting a range of local and regional businesses including those in hospitality and accommodation. They have recently introduced themselves to a wider audience at this year’s North West and Lakes Hospitality Shows.
